Fajr Int’l Film Festival announces international category

The 41st Fajr Int'l Film Festival has announced film categories of its international section.

The 41st Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF), currently underway in Tehran, has announced film categories of its international section.

The international section will include three categories, namely the International Competition Section (Cinema Salvation), Eastern Vista (Films from Asian-Islamic Countries) and Festival of Festivals, according to a report by the FIFF’s public relations office published on Tuesday.

In the Cinema Salvation, the priority will be given to films focused with issues like justice, the fight against oppression, global terrorism, violence and extremism as well as films promoting Islamic awakening, transcendent lifestyle, family, human rights, and other moral, spiritual and religious issues.

Films from Asian-Islamic countries that can help elevate cinema with a transcendental approach in the world will be screened in the Eastern Vista section of the FIFF.

The Festival of Festivals section will focus on selected Iranian and foreign films that have already been screened in international festivals.

The Fajr festival coincides with the Ten-Day Fajr ceremonies across Iran, marking the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Since its establishment in 1982, the festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

The event has screened many preserved classics from Iran cinema in previous runs of the international film event annually held in Iran.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.

The 41st edition of the FIFF is being held from February 1 to 11, 2023 in Tehran.
